Forum Downtime to fix some issues

As you may all be aware, we've had some issues over the last few months with downtime of the forum.
It's been a major point of stress for @Chimestrike who has been furiously working to get everything back up and running as smoothly as possible again.

We are moving the forum to a new host, and as such we will need to take the forum offline for a short while to allow us to make the transition. That downtime will likely happen at some point this evening.

Fingers crossed, once we are up and running on the new server we should stop seeing so many issues. We have only paid for a trial period to see how the system holds up as the main issue we had is that the forum has grown too big.

That said, also in the future we will be moving the forum to a new platform, so the whole look and feel of the forum is going to change at some point this year, but that's a long way off for now, just keep it in mind that it's coming. Obviously the admin team will be around when we move to help you all with the transition to the new platform. In theory it should work in the same way, it will just look different, but it depends what platform we end up on as to how bug the change will be.

Some of us rely on the forum more than others, so info about downtime is much appreciated.
In regard to new platform, I've had this on two other forums, and whilst I understand the need, on both, I found that the new look on both was all pastel shades, but for those of us who need a bit of higher contrast these days, it was an issue.
If possible, the ability to have a night mode/higher contrast option would be helpful, but I appreciate it's just one more thing on a big list.

I might go take a look at the Alphard site during downtime. Or watch some paint dry. Can't decide which is more stimulating

Anyways up, I'm back from the Allfart site and getting the Dulux out, it's gloss so I will be watching it dry for quite a while
